In general, you should seed your lawn in the spring or fall, depending on local weather patterns and the type of grass. Some grasses are warm-season (plant in the spring), and others are cool-season (plant in the fall). No matter which type of grass you are growing, you want to avoid seeding during extreme temperatures. Long story short, seed every year to maintain growth, but not in the middle of summer.
