Spring is a great time to add whatever it is that you feel your lawn or landscaping has been missing. There are many things you can do to your lawn to add color and texture and change the look of your property. As a Needham landscaper, we have lots of ways to transform your lawn at Cataldo Landscape & Masonry. Everyone has different ideas and preferences about what they want to do with their landscaping, but there are a few additions that we think can work on everyone’s property.
Here are three of our favorite landscaping ideas you can try this spring.
Plant a tree.
That’s right, just one tree. There are many varieties of trees that will add color and texture to your landscaping in the spring and in the fall when the leaves change color. Even better, once the tree is established, it’s pretty low maintenance. Over time, your tree will become a focal point for your landscaping. Many people opt for a Japanese maple when they want to add a tree to their landscaping. They can live in nearly any climate and will add color and texture to your landscape.
Add some mulch.
Another way to add color and texture to your landscape is by adding some mulch. The brown or reddish mulch makes a nice contrast to the green grass. It also lets other plants, like shrubs, stand out rather than blending in with the rest of your lawn. What’s more, it makes routine lawn care easier, too. You don’t have to mow the areas where there’s mulch.
Edge beds and walkways.
Set your beds and walkways off from the rest of your lawn by adding edging. Edging makes your landscape look deliberate and creates neat boundaries to separate beds and walkways from the rest of your lawn. For example, if you have a gravel walkway, edging keeps the gravel contained to the area you want it and makes it look clean and neat. Edging can also have the same effect on the mulch areas that we suggested earlier.
