Water early in the morning. This can become increasingly important during warmer, sunnier months. Watering your grass in the morning prevents your grass from being burnt because of the existing condensation. It’s also less windy and cooler in the morning, meaning more will be absorbed and less evaporated.

Don’t water every day. Watering your lawn every day might seem like the best way to ensure green grass, but it also creates shorter grass roots. These grass roots will dry out faster and weaken the surface of your ground.

Let water soak six inches into the ground. Because the healthiest grass roots are around 6 inches long, allowing six inches of saturation means properly maintaining your grass. Having loose, rich soil under the surface is the best way to keep your grass in pristine condition

Pay attention to the weather. It’s important to remember your watering schedule and use common sense. If it rained quite a bit over the weekend, you can give your lawn a break and prevent excessive watering by holding off for a day or two.
